#Stabilizing global climate change requires swift reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the protection of ecosystem benefits. Nature-based climate solutions (NbCS) aim to harness ecosystem photosynthesis to mitigate GHG emissions, remove carbon dioxide (CO2), and preserve biodiversity and food quality. While eddy covariance provides direct, continuous measurements of GHG exchange, its application to study specific NbCS strategies remains limited. Using long-term eddy-covariance data collected in various ecosystems worldwide, this session will share insights into the impact of ecosystem disturbance and the management of ecosystem recovery on GHG and water vapor exchange.
